Agreements of Eu

IIA Mapping Project The IIA Mapping Project is a joint initiative of UNCTAD and universities around the world to map the content of IIAs. The resulting database serves as a tool to understand trends in IIA development, assess the prevalence of different policy approaches, and identify examples of treaties. The ”Mapping of IIA Content” allows you to browse the results of the previous project (the page is updated regularly when new results arrive). They are designed to create better business opportunities and overcome the associated obstacles. In recent history, such agreements have been signed under two EU policies: the Stabilisation and Association Process (SAP) and the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). EU trade policy On sustainable development in EU trade agreements, transparency in EU trade negotiations, related documents. Further details on the characteristics of these three protocols and the provisions of many other EU agreements with third countries relating to culture and the Convention are available in the UNESCO document mentioned above. The IIA Navigator is continuously adapted following reviews with and comments from UN Member States. It is mainly based on information provided by governments on a voluntary basis.

A contract is included in a country`s IIA statement once it is formally concluded; Contracts whose negotiations have been concluded but not signed are not counted. A contract is excluded from the IVI account once its termination takes effect, whether or not it continues to have a legal effect on certain investments during its ”sunset” period. In the case of renewals, only one of the contracts between the same parties is counted. Depending on the situation, the counted treaty may be ”old” if it remains in force until the ratification of the newly concluded IIA. Although every effort is made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the content, UNCTAD assumes no responsibility for any errors or omissions in such data. The information and texts contained in the database are for purely informative purposes and have no official or legal status. In case of doubt about the contents of the database, it is recommended to contact the competent governmental authority of the State(s) concerned. Users are invited to report any agreement, error or omission via the online contact form. Several other EU trade and economic partnerships and political agreements contain references to the Convention and/or its main objectives with the aim of protecting the diversity of cultural expressions, in particular in the audiovisual field.

Four of these new agreements were signed or entered into force between 2012 and 2016: with the SADC EPA countries (Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland), with Colombia and Peru, with Georgia and with Moldova. The EU-China Declaration on Cultural Cooperation, the Vietnam Framework Agreement, the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Kazakhstan and the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in Mongolia also make explicit reference to the Convention. Fact sheets, Vietnamese trade in your city, texts of agreements, exporters` reports The European Union has concluded free trade agreements (FTAs)[1] and other trade-related agreements with many countries of the world and is negotiating with many others. [2] Several other free trade, economic and political partnership agreements concluded by the EU contain references to the Convention and/or clauses to protect the diversity of cultural expressions, including in the audiovisual field. The UNESCO document describes 10 such agreements with the EU, four of which were signed or entered into force during the reporting period: with the SADC EPA countries (Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland), with Colombia and Peru, with Georgia and with Moldova. Association agreements are comprehensive framework agreements between the EU (or its predecessors) and its Member States, as well as an external state that regulates their bilateral relations. The provision of an Association Agreement was incorporated into the Treaty of Rome, which established the European Economic Community to enable the Community to cooperate with the United Kingdom, which had withdrawn from the Treaty negotiations at the Messina Conference in 1955. According to the European External Action Service, to qualify as an association agreement, an agreement must meet several criteria[1] on 22 August. In May 2018, the Council adopted conclusions on how trade agreements are negotiated and concluded. The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that the provisions on investor-state arbitration (including a special tribunal provided for in certain free trade agreements) fall within the common competence of the European Union and its Member States and that, for this reason, their ratification should be approved both by the EU and by each of the 28 states. [82] Trade agreements are generally very complex, as they are legal texts covering a wide range of activities, from agriculture to intellectual property.

But they share a set of basic principles. By including protocols on cultural cooperation in trade agreements and by promoting the objectives and principles of the Convention in other international and regional for a, treaties and conventions, the EU supports equal access, openness and balance in the movement of cultural goods and services and facilitates the mobility of cultural professionals (Objective 2 of the Convention). Therefore, the EU also contributes to the implementation of SDG 10 by translating the principle of special and differential treatment of developing countries, in particular least developed countries, into cultural trade agreements (Goal 10a). IIA Navigator This database of IIAs – the IIA Navigator – is maintained by UNCTAD`s IIA section. You can search for IAIs completed by a specific country or group of countries, view recently completed IIAs, or use advanced contract search for sophisticated searches tailored to your needs. Please quote: UNCTAD, International Investment Agreements Navigator, available on investmentpolicy.unctad.org/international-investment-agreements/ A study found that trade agreements implemented by the EU during the period 1993-2013 ”reduced quality-adjusted prices by almost 7%”. [83] The European Commission reports annually on the implementation of its main trade agreements during the previous calendar year. Three EU trade agreements – with CARIFORUM (the 15 countries of the Caribbean Community and the Dominican Republic), with Central America (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama) and with the Republic of Korea – contain a protocol on cultural cooperation explicitly referring to the Convention.

These protocols pursue a broadly similar objective: to grant preferential treatment to all parties, including as regards the mobility of cultural workers and the negotiation of co-production agreements. .
